State Rep. Robert Sprague, R-Findlay, is using the typical Ohio GOP trick of adding terrible legislation to the state budget so the nasty part can’t be repealed through a referendum. The terrible law he doesn’t want to expose to the ballot box? Extra rules on the placement of community drug addiction recovery homes. Which is ironic because addressing drug abuse is one of Sprague’s causes he trumpets in his press releases and through normally introduced legislation.

Huckabee Political Career Is Thanks To The Clintons

I read, with amusement, Mike Huckabee telling reporters in New Hampshire, that he survived the Clinton political machine before and he hoped to do it again in his run for President in 2016. History shows that Huchabee owes his entire political career to President and Hillary Clinton. If not for them, Huckabee might be a preacher in some backwater small town now. His comments about the Clintons are disingenuous at best.

Progressive Love For Rand Paul Is Dangerous For Everyone Else

Senator Rand Paul, a ‘libertarian’ darling, is running for President. Some on the left and some progressives seem to love him because he supports a few liberal issues like being against a Big Brother style government and against war. It’s dangerous to support a candidate running for a national office, like President, based only on a couple of narrow issues, especially ones that won’t help 90% of the rest of the country. It might be fun to get high with him but then you would need to put up with his non-liberal views on women, religion, and civil rights.

Shocker! The Poor Doesn’t Spend Public Assistance On Steak And Lobster

A few state legislatures, dominated by Republicans, have not only attacked women with draconian anti-abortion laws but have also attacked poor people by trying to micro manage how they spend public assistance. The GOP has the idea that poor people are spending money on steak and lobster and other luxuries. One survey shows they are still wrong.

New Famous Findlayian: William Wallace Campbell

Thanks to an article in the Courier the other day, I added a new name (to me) to my Famous Findlayian page. He is William Wallace Campbell.

Campbell wan an astronomer of note in the beginning of the 20th century and he helped confirm Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity.
